Courtney Azzara was raised on Long Island, outside of New York City. After receiving a BFA from Pratt Institute in 2008 she remained in Brooklyn, working out of a studio in Bedford Stuyvesant and showing in a gallery space in Bushwick. She was awarded a grant as resident artist at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont in 2013. Courtney currently resides and works in Los Angeles, California.
